Fate is written in his face

on being a film director unfamiliar with the more practical aspect of film-making, federico fellini once said, and i quote loosely, "people will always try to scare you with technique".

i do not envy those who've worked longer than me, who studies harder, or had suffered more, nor those who knows more than me, or spent more hours in the studio.

i have been discounted at times on the basis that i have less 'experience', that i didn't gone through the familiar rite of passage many people in this industry have, who every so often feels the need to elevate themselves by being condescending and hopelessly pessimistic. for the things i lack .. i see things beyond what they are. the big picture.

negativity, not a quality that i aspire to. (which is why i like kids, they're always happy and optimistic. rare things in adults.)

i haven't even showed half of what i am capable of. it's unnecessary for me to do so anyway at this point. even then (and this is probably me at most arrogant self) i believe i am doing an excellent job at work.

and i never. give. excuses.

Those keeping pet dogs would know how a waggy tail dog greeting can help lift up a gloomy day atmosphere and make u feel well loved.
i think kids may cause you to go beserk at times.

kish: i envy people who are genuinely happy, genuinely intelligent, and down to earth. things i am not. and beautiful people, hehe.

kids, they're always happy cos they, well, haven't quite lived enough. But now now, not that I have anything against them, haha.

and sure, being experienced doesn't make one any wiser than the other; wisdom in a wider context at least, and i won't be surprised if you get promoted much sooner than those 'experienced' ones. Cheers :)

yeah, i know the works, my lecturers told me. what i meant was, later on when you're in the REAL working field. You'll climb pretty darn fast I bet, haha.

oh, and I'd like to state that frank gehry annoys me. it's completely unrelated but to look at one of his traits; he's a TRUE artist (i wouldn't say architect, i think his designs suck) he doesn't really care what people think of his designs and he goes far for that; you would too, I think ;)

you know you would, right? Haha.

i admire frank gehry. not so much because of his work (some of which i actually do like. esp fred and ginger), but his nonchalant disregard towards criticism, and his laidback and unapologetic attitude. he is one of the few architects that have acquired the respect of artists.

but architects seem to resent him, perhaps because he lacks the abilities that most architects have. (he certainly doesn't sound like a pompous intellectual.) no one in my uni likes him at all. but i think i understand his position.

i'm hopeful that i'd make something out of my life. many people say this, but how many actually succeeds ?

funny though, in my college, nobody seems to give much thought on gehry. It's like, to admire gehry is natural because he's 'famous' and his designs are 'awe inspiring.' For some reason, my friends feel it's almost taboo to even say we don't like him because, well, unlike dear gehry, we're nowhere yet.

privately though, I don't really believe most of my archie friends settle with this course under passion so, i'm not really suprised if they go HUH if I were to bring up this subject for discussion.

and for the last bit, well, to be honest, I don't really think many have actually said that. People are afraid for starters. They're scared their words would eat them back in the end. And personally, that's when people just don't progress at all.

but I don't hope, though. I WILL make something out of my life, that's my promise.

sean: it's human nature to be a little selfish. it's more worrying for me to see someone completely selfless.

pink: frankly frank seems like a nice little old man. but come to melbourne and all you hear is how awful his buildings are.
