for russia, with love

ikon
the black square. madonna on the wall. white russian.

self, in rotation
plane in rotation. platonic forms. non-objective art.

moderno
modernity. the cross. self-portrait.
these are interpretations of the anti-object ikonographies of kasimir malevich, which eschewed the need for representation of the objective world; however one needs to see beyond the platonic shapes to fathom that they are not completely devoid of meaning.

very impressive. especially the third one.
cantik. :)
i'm so gonna hire u as my wedding photographer.. hahaha
the forms are quite loaded. it might just rub people the wrong way that i projected myself against socialist/revolutionist art.
so, thanks for not seeing it in a negative way.
am always amazed by ur photographing skills. i like the first one. nice!
ya the first one look so natural!
I personally think experimenting it this way, meaning that things can be viewed from a range of perspectives, be it positive or negative, its up for the beholder to chose which is which.
but there's a saying that read, "expect and accept criticism, not praises". if people's views contradict with yours, its just to open up your mind and be aware of some aspects, so, you know how your work affect others.
I think that should be the basic fundamental of creativity. to be open up to possibilities.
*just a note before you hit it big bro. you got the talent. you got the attitude. don't lose it with arrogance later on.
i checked out kazimir malevich's works... am impressed at how u interpret 'em and the outcome u produced! marvellous! =D
if i had the talent as urs, i'd love to present my interpretation of the meanings i see behind 'em =) ..i love the way art sees beyond things.
again, bravo!
yaya: don't think it has much to do with talent. it's just that (as cliched as this sounds) i like malevich's work and what they stood for. it's easy when you're into it.
cosmic: thanks for that. i definitely want to better myself.
here's a short note on the paintings:
[the black square] represented a fresh attitude in art thru the rejection of the 'bourgeoisie values' (i.e. marxist). they were meant to replace the ikon paintings (usually one of the madonna).
[plane in rotation] for me is about the interrelationship between symmetry/asymmetry; the wholeness of the circle; and the loss of one's centre.
[the black cross] is another ikon painting i suppose, with obvious connotations. note that it isn't a latin cross, but a refined/minimal/mathematical-ish symbol. if anything, it reflects a commitment towards modernity more than anything else. my cross is white though.
so, what does it mean when i montaged myself into these?
shoot. a little confusing there. i meant to say: malevich is marxist= anti-'bourgeoisie'.
walaupun saya tidak berapa faham the description etc...but..i love the pic..sangat cool..:P
haha..enuf bullshits ok..i like ur pica's..
its not bullshit.
u have a fresh attitude that has been rejected, therefore losing your center being, making u commit to modernity.
i feel like im at school. im not capable of intellectual answers like the whole world is. and since no one ans ur q, id give it a shot, tell me if im wrong.
haha. nice try kish. but i don't have an attitude, and i do not commit to modernity.
but you are right about one thing. i have no 'centre'; i live in my very own bubble.
poke bubble.
