selamat hari merdeka!

the stupas

the petronas twin towers was said to be influenced by islamic geometry. if you ask me the geometry shit is just an excuse to sell the building to the malaysian public. rarely will people say that it looks like the stupa, although the staggered spire does look like those ancient relic. the towers also allude to our sky high aspirations to be the best in everything.

we (referring to people in general, and me) subscribe to symbols. we take pride in reasoning our way through life. we are victims of the ultimate pop culture.

we are in denial that perhaps, life may be meaningless.

so much for a positive blog entry for merdeka day ..

LOL!

You know, I never noticed that the KLCC resembled the shape of stupas. You have a point there.

Then again, I never noticed that the KLCC was allegedly influenced by islamic geometry, either.

Here's wishing a good Merdeka to you, dude.

Happy Merdeka!

You're getting cynical dude, or perhaps it's just always been there under the surface. ^_^

Saw you at Subway the other night, wanted to say hi but was late for something. Give me a ring when you're free, I haven't seen you for ages. :)

shahriman latif: the geometry is of two overlaying squares at 45degrees. i like the form actually.

i read a quote by this malaysian architect who said "the romans invented the dome, but the muslims perfected it". total bullshit. up to this day noone has figured out how to build the Panthenon. so pointless arguing about it... it is what it is.

aida: i think i'm allergic to self-righteousness and delusional people. so when i'm exposed to a degree of those, i get into cynic mode. haha...

tash: there are a couple of phallic skyscrapers around the world. if you're going to london lookout for the Swiss Re headquaters.... they call it the gherkin. lol.
